Eat the Invaders: A Delicious Solution to an Ecological Problem
Presented by Chef Angie Prendergast Sceats, The Valley Table

This May, The Valley Table invites guests to sit down to a meal outside their comfort zone—one that reimagines the role of the plate in protecting your local environment. Eat the Invaders is a multi-course outdoor dining experience hosted by chef Angie Prendergast Sceats, showcasing a bold, solution-oriented menu centred around local invasive species.

Held across two days on the NSW South Coast, this thought-provoking event is equal parts feast and conversation. Guests will dine on rabbit, wild goat, carp, and local foraged weeds—ingredients more often seen as ecological threats than culinary opportunity. Prepared with native herbs and spices and an ethos of zero waste, each dish is designed to tell a story about land care, sustainability, and the role food can play in environmental restoration.

Angie, known for her grounded approach to ethical catering through The Valley Table, describes the event as “a call to action served on a plate.”

“Invasive species are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity in Australia. The truth is, many of them are also incredibly good to eat. This is about rethinking the problem—and inviting people to consider be part of the solution,” she says.

The experience includes a four-course lunch served al fresco in two striking locations—The Valley Table’s Barrengarry kitchen garden and the bushland surrounds of Bay & Bush, Woollamia. Guests are encouraged to connect with fellow diners, explore ideas around sustainable food systems, and most importantly, eat well.
