This year\, acclaimed local chef and food sustainability leader Angie Prendergast-Sceats from The Valley Table has said enough is enough. \nEnter Citrus Fest\, running from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August 2026 a grassroots\, three-day festival dedicated to salvaging Mother Nature’s winter bounty\, deep-diving into the humble citrus tree\, celebrating community resilience\, and ensuring there is absolutely “no lemon left behind.” \nFounder Angie Prendergast-Sceats is no stranger to fighting food waste on a major scale. Long before launching The Valley Table she was a driving force in Australia’s food sustainability movement\, spearheading food rescue events with the Youth Food Movement (YFM) and championing the NSW EPA’s “Love Food Hate Waste” initiative. She also was the co-founder for iconic social enterprise Two Good Co.\, using food to heal and support vulnerable communities. \n“It broke my heart moving to the valley and seeing so much beautiful produce go unused year after year\, especially when I’ve spent my entire career building systems to prevent exactly this kind of waste\,” says Angie. “Citrus Fest was born out of a simple idea: how can we come together as a community\, share skills\, and make sure we preserve\, taste\, and celebrate every single piece of produce our valley gives us?” \nThe three-day program has something for everyone\, combining hands-on learning\, culinary experiences\, and family fun\, all based out of the Kangaroo Valley Hall and local farms across Kangaroo Valley \nFriday 31st July kicks off with a self-drive farm & orchards Tour to learn the ropes of growing citrus\, followed by the flagship Citrus Without Borders Dinner with chef Angie who is hosting a globetrotting 4-course feast with a cocktail on arrival. \nSaturday 1st August is supported by the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural Show at the local hall is the Preserve Your Crop Workshops. This year\, acclaimed local chef and food sustainability leader Angie Prendergast-Sceats from The Valley Table has said enough is enough. \nEnter Citrus Fest\, running from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August 2026 a grassroots\, three-day festival dedicated to salvaging Mother Nature’s winter bounty\, deep-diving into the humble citrus tree\, celebrating community resilience\, and ensuring there is absolutely “no lemon left behind.” \nFounder Angie Prendergast-Sceats is no stranger to fighting food waste on a major scale. Long before launching The Valley Table she was a driving force in Australia’s food sustainability movement\, spearheading food rescue events with the Youth Food Movement (YFM) and championing the NSW EPA’s “Love Food Hate Waste” initiative. She also was the co-founder for iconic social enterprise Two Good Co.\, using food to heal and support vulnerable communities. \n“It broke my heart moving to the valley and seeing so much beautiful produce go unused year after year\, especially when I’ve spent my entire career building systems to prevent exactly this kind of waste\,” says Angie. “Citrus Fest was born out of a simple idea: how can we come together as a community\, share skills\, and make sure we preserve\, taste\, and celebrate every single piece of produce our valley gives us?” \nThe three-day program has something for everyone\, combining hands-on learning\, culinary experiences\, and family fun\, all based out of the Kangaroo Valley Hall and local farms across Kangaroo Valley \nFriday 31st July kicks off with a self-drive farm & orchards Tour to learn the ropes of growing citrus\, followed by the flagship Citrus Without Borders Dinner with chef Angie who is hosting a globetrotting 4-course feast with a cocktail on arrival. \nSaturday 1st August is supported by the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural Show at the local hall is the Preserve Your Crop Workshops. Covering everything from marmalades and fermented sodas to citrus-infused skincare and essential oils.
