SUMMARY:Kangaroo Valley Reggae Fest
DESCRIPTION:Country Pub Hosts International Reggae Lineup \nBack for its third year on May 16th\, 2026\, the KV Reggae Fest\, the “little” festival in the back paddock of The Friendly Inn in Kangaroo Valley NSW\, has locked in its most ambitious lineup yet. Headlining is the massive dub-fusion collective SUB-TRIBE (New Zealand)\, bringing a raw\, bass-heavy sound that has filled stages across Europe and Australasia. They are joined by the Afro-Caribbean rhythms of THE STRIDES and the legendary West African Malian guitarist MOUSSA DIAKITE & WASSADO\, who brings the hypnotic sounds of the “Super Rail Band de Bamako” to the South Coast hinterland. \nForget the long lines for a drink or the traffic hassle of city festivals. The Friendly Inn in Kangaroo Valley\, located just two hours from Sydney and Canberra\, is proving that world-class music sounds better in fresh country air. The festival was born from a simple idea: bringing the global sounds of roots and reggae to the South Coast without the hype or headaches of a big event. \n“We treat it like a big weekend pub session\,” Festival manager Caroline Lenati says. “No VIP tents\, no complicated wristbands. Just a proper country pub\, a massive beer garden\, and a sound system that does the bands justice.” If you want to sit at the back with the dog\, you can. If you want to get sweaty down the front for Sub-Tribe\, you can do that too. \nRounding out the bill are Wollongong favourites Ren & The Rudeboys & Beatmeisters\, from Sydney all-female roots outfit The Lady Beans\, and Canberra’s ska/jazz fusion lineup of This Way Orkestra. Gates are from 2pm and the valley will be rocking through until midnight with the beer garden full of Jamaican street eats\, smoked BBQ\, market stalls\, drumming workshops\, dance classes and kids’ activities. \nWith tickets priced at $55 for adults and $35 for teenagers\, and kids under 12 free\, KV Reggae Fest is aimed to be accessible for families to enjoy great music together. Pack the camp chairs and a picnic rug and get ready for a day of smooth funky beats and great eats on May 16th\, 2026 at The Friendly Inn in Kangaroo Valley NSW. SUMMARY:Citrus Fest
DESCRIPTION:No lemon left behind: Kangaroo Valley launches inaugural Citrus Fest to combat food waste\nEvery winter\, Kangaroo Valley’s backyard trees and orchards hang heavy with an absolute abundance of citrus. For years\, locals have watched tonnes of pristine fruit drop to the ground and go to waste\, salvaging only what they can handle in small batches of backyard jams. This year\, acclaimed local chef and food sustainability leader Angie Prendergast-Sceats from The Valley Table has said enough is enough. \nEnter Citrus Fest\, running from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August 2026 a grassroots\, three-day festival dedicated to salvaging Mother Nature’s winter bounty\, deep-diving into the humble citrus tree\, celebrating community resilience\, and ensuring there is absolutely “no lemon left behind.” \nFounder Angie Prendergast-Sceats is no stranger to fighting food waste on a major scale. Long before launching The Valley Table she was a driving force in Australia’s food sustainability movement\, spearheading food rescue events with the Youth Food Movement (YFM) and championing the NSW EPA’s “Love Food Hate Waste” initiative. She also was the co-founder for iconic social enterprise Two Good Co.\, using food to heal and support vulnerable communities. \n“It broke my heart moving to the valley and seeing so much beautiful produce go unused year after year\, especially when I’ve spent my entire career building systems to prevent exactly this kind of waste\,” says Angie. “Citrus Fest was born out of a simple idea: how can we come together as a community\, share skills\, and make sure we preserve\, taste\, and celebrate every single piece of produce our valley gives us?” \nThe three-day program has something for everyone\, combining hands-on learning\, culinary experiences\, and family fun\, all based out of the Kangaroo Valley Hall and local farms across Kangaroo Valley \nFriday 31st July kicks off with a self-drive farm & orchards Tour to learn the ropes of growing citrus\, followed by the flagship Citrus Without Borders Dinner with chef Angie who is hosting a globetrotting 4-course feast with a cocktail on arrival. \nSaturday 1st August is supported by the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural Show at the local hall is the Preserve Your Crop Workshops. Covering everything from marmalades and fermented sodas to citrus-infused skincare and essential oils. As the sun goes down\, back it up with the Citrus After-Dark Cocktail Crafting Workshop with botanical legends Trolley’d.  Then if you know your tangerines from your tommerelo\, Citrus Zest Quest Trivia Night will be the place to be to show off your sweet and sour knowledge. \nOn Sunday 2nd August bring the kids along for a hands-on Kids Citrus Craft & Discovery Workshop exploring lemon batteries and stamp art. Wrap up the weekend at the community Citrus Cake Swap & High Tea where you can bring their home-grown citrus\, preserves\, and plates to share over provided tea and coffee. \nWith limited seating across the events\, secure your place at the inaugural Citrus Fest at just one workshop or make a weekend of it and visit them all. Tickets\, full program passes\, and workshop registrations are available online now at citrusfest.au.
