Get ready for a wet & wild family adventure in Kangaroo Valley

This weekend Kangaroo Valley will host The Festival of the Canoe and Kayak, or as it is more affectionally known The FOCK. Back in 2023 after its inaugural the festival program is jam packed with outdoor adventure and wonder. This festival is where canoes and culture come together over one awesome weekend in one epic location.

On Saturday the 23rd the Kangaroo Valley showground will host a paddling lifestyle expo showcasing the latest water crafts, kayak tours, SUP experiences and canoe adventures across the Shoalhaven. Dip your toe into the wild world of paddling while enjoying lunch in the Kangaroo Valley village.

The festival gives theatre lovers a rare treat to paddle to a performance. Beneath the Surface is a family-friendly performance that has 3 shows over the weekend. The immersive performance is a guided mixed-media art installation that is only accessible by canoe. Tickets to the show include boat hire and are $50 per person. On Saturday afternoon it’s time to frock up and pack a picnic for the Black-Tie paddle at Bendeela. You can hire a canoe or even bring your own. This event was a highlight of the 2022 festival and it promises to be a hoot again in 2023.

On Sunday the 24th of June local Aboriginal-owned company Gadhungal Marring will share a Welcome to Country and Corroboree at 11 am on the banks of Kangaroo Valley River. Over the course of the day, local elders will be crafting a traditional canoe called a Nawi. On the eve of NAIDOC week, this is a chance for families to come together and experience country in the beautiful surroundings of Kangaroo Valley.

Sunday afternoon there will be a flurry of free events at Bendeela including a world record attempt for the longest line of floating watercraft, canoe scavenger hunts, live music, Australian canoe jousting championships, canoe polo, a canoe percussion interactive performance ‘bang on a boat’, kids novelty games, crafts and & much more.

This weekend come to Kangaroo Valley and discover why it is considered the canoe capital of Australia at the Festival of Canoe and Kyak.
