Kangaroo Valley is finally open!
After two years of road repairs and delays, Kangaroo Valley locals and visitors alike are thrilled to hear the festive news: Moss Vale Road is officially open in both directions. This road, which connects the Southern Highlands with the South Coast via Kangaroo Valley’s historic Hampden Bridge, has been restored just in time for the holiday season.
The restoration involved over $6 million in repairs, the removal of thousands of tonnes of debris, and the relentless effort of crews battling challenging conditions. Most importantly, it required the patience of Kangaroo Valley residents, who endured roadwork delays for two years following a major weather event that caused 37 landslips on Cambewarra and Barrengarry Mountains.
Federal Member Fiona Phillips expressed her support, stating, “I hope people from right around the region will take a trip to Kangaroo Valley and support those businesses that have been impacted. It’s a fabulous village with great shopping, cafes, and the drive up the mountain is so beautiful.”
