**Important Notice for Road Closures**
The Moss Vale Road will experience full daytime closures at **Cambewarra** on **8-9 December** and at **Barrengarry** on **10-11 December**, from **9 am to 3 pm** each day. These closures are necessary for urgent drainage clearing and maintenance work to ensure the road remains safe during the anticipated summer rains. Public and school buses, as well as emergency vehicles, will be escorted through the closure areas, aiming to minimize delays.
**Reason for Daytime Work**
Due to ongoing nighttime work on the Illawarra Highway at Macquarie Pass, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is unable to conduct maintenance at night as usual. Completing these works during the day allows for essential drainage systems, slopes, and roadside assets to function properly before heavy rainfall, preventing potential flooding and damage.
**Traffic Management and Detours**
Detours will be established via the Illawarra Highway at Macquarie Pass and the Princes Highway, which may add approximately **90 minutes** to travel times. For light vehicles under 7.5 meters and weighing under 12 tonnes, an alternative route via **Kangaroo Valley Road** will be available, adding around **15 minutes** to travel time. Traffic control measures will be set up at multiple locations to ensure residents, school buses, and public transport can pass through safely. It’s important to follow all traffic control signs and directions.

Please see below for important information about daytime full road closures of Moss Vale Road 8-9 Dec (Cambewarra) and 10-11 Dec (Barrengarry). All closures are 9am to 3pm.
TfNSW are trying to minimise the impact. School buses, public buses and emergency vehicles will be escorted through the closures with minimal delays.
Many people have told me that the reason the roads are so bad, is due to a lack of maintenance including the associated drainage systems. Given the issues being experienced with the work on Macquarie Pass, there has been no opportunity for TfNSW to conduct our work during night closures. To ensure our best chance of “survival” during the predicted summer rains, we are going to have to put up with some pain. Alternate routes are available for both closures and everyone acknowledges that the extra travel time is inconvenient – but at least we can still travel.
